Welcome to the home of J.P. Das’s PREP and COGENT programs online. From here you can learn about news related to each of the programs, as well as Das’s other work.
Briefly, PREP is a remedial program for primary school-aged children who are experiencing difficulty with reading, spelling and comprehension. It is based on widely accepted theories of child development and cognitive development.
PREP is a reading enhancement program that aims at improving the information-processing strategies that underlie reading, while at the same time avoiding the direct teaching of word reading skills.
COGENT is designed for the enhancement of cognition, phonological awareness, and language, especially linked to literacy and school learning. Useful for teachers, psychologists or others with appropriate supervision or training to aid in the development of reading and associated academic skills.
Both programs are available for purchase. There are also a number of books that will also become available through this site as well. Please take a look at the “Books” page and watch the news for the latest edition.
